I'm gonna list my personal opinion on the pros and cons for each biome in survival, I'd like some feedback on if you agree, if you think I should add some or remove some, all feedback welcome This is to help me, and others decide on a worst/favourite biome.
Extreme Hills:
Pros:
- Emerald Ore only found here
- Awesome overhangs and mountainous areas
- One of the best on Large Biomes
- Awesome for bases
Cons:
- Hard to travel across unless a path is dug/created
- Trees are scarces, so are animals
- Could be greatly improved with the mountains
Taiga
Pros:
- Snowing all the time, free snow blocks and snowballs
- Trees everywhere!
- Nice colour wood (My Opinion)
- Wolves can be found here
- Ice can be found here
Cons:
- Snow can hide unlit paths and make it rather hard to see
- You need to jump up some of the trees to cut them all down
- Accidentally hitting a wolf can be fatal
- Water needs to be covered or lit on every source block you need
Tundra
Pros:
- Snowy everywhere, free snowballs and snow blocks
- Loads of flat area to build
- Ice can be found here
Cons:
- Water sources need to be lit or covered on every source block you need
- Trees are scarce
- Animals don't spawn often
- Spawning in the middle of one is a disaster even on the default setting, as they are ALWAYS HUGE!
Ocean
Pros:
- Water everywhere
- Mobs can't spawn on water, you can control how much land there is
- Survival Islands are cool to find here
- Squid spawning is frequent
- Underwater caves are already really deep, making it an easier route to diamonds if you don't drown
Cons:
- Water everywhere
- If you're not looking for Survival Islands, they are a pain
- Hard to reach underwater caves
Plains
Pros:
- Villages
- Frequent passive mob spawning
- Flat land to build on
- Forests spawn in the middle of Plains
Cons:
- No trees at all
- Forests in the middle of Plains are not too frequent
Forest
Pros:
- 2 types of wood to choose from
- Birch, nice colour wood (my opinion)
- Apples drop from Oak trees
- Wolves can be found here
Cons:
- Big Oak trees are a pain to get rid of
- Accidentally hitting a wolf can be fatal
- Apples are rarely dropped from Oak Trees
Desert
Pros:
- Cactus is a good defense against mobs, and a nice dye
- Sand everywhere for glass and sandstone
- Relatively flat building area
- No rain or thunderstorms
- Mob spawners can be buried, making them easy to conquer
- Desert temples found here
Cons:
- No trees are here
- No dirt is here, except sometimes along rivers or underground
- Mobs can activate the desert temple traps
- More spawning space for hostile mobs
- Passive mobs never spawn here
Jungle
Pros:
- Jungle Temples
- Jungle Trees are very tall, with vines going up making it easy to harvest wood quickly
- Vines can be sheared for ladders
- Jungle trees make great tree houses for defense against mobs
Cons:
- Hard to travel through, harder than extreme hills
- Spawning in the middle of a jungle is often the most annoying thing
- Jungle Saplings are less frequently dropped, making it harder to replant
Mushroom
Pros:
- Easy to harvest mushroom stew
- Mycelium can only be found here
- Mooshrooms can only be found here
- Hostile Mobs never spawn in Mushroom Biomes
- Mooshrooms can be turned into cows with shears
Cons:
- No trees found here
- No other mobs apart from mooshrooms and cows can be found here
- No grass found here
- Extremely rare and hard to find
Swamp
Pros:
- Lilypads only found here
- Vines can be sheared for ladders
- Unique water colour
- Oak trees can be harvested for apples
Cons:
- Ugly Grass (My opinion)
- Passive mobs spawn less frequently
